High School Essay

By Chasmin Cooley, LFLA Class of 2006

My name is Chasmin Cooley and I am an eighth grader at Lift For Life Academy (LFLA). Through the two years I have been here I have grown so much in so many ways. I know attending Career Academy, I will continue to strive and work toward achieving my goals.

In my seventh grade year at LFLA we were reading a book called The Pact. This book was about three African-American boys who overcame many difficult challenges and became three successful doctors. Reading this book inspired me to want to become an OB/GYN doctor. Career Academy would provide me the background I need to enter college and medical school. I will study the fields of Health Services and Bio-Technology. Health Services will give me a better understanding of medical and health professions. In Bio-Technology I hope to learn about DNA and the genetic engineering of people.

Since my first two years at LFLA, I have shown great academic improvements and great leadership abilities. I am currently the captain of the cheerleading team and a member of the Student Council. My extra curricular activities alone do not define who I am and who I strive to be, an all-around successful African American doctor.

I appreciate you for considering me as an applicant and look forward to meeting and working with you soon.
